| Military Bio Service Dates: Aug 58 - Aug 79 Comments: Like most guys that served over in the straits in 1958 -59 I did not have the faintest idea what the hell was gjoing on. Our ship, the USS Pine Island AV12 served in anti-submarine warfare during this period. We were home ported in White Beach, Okinawa. We had liberty at Kaoshung and Kelung Formosa. We operated in the Taiwan straits for 10 months. We were on patrol duty around Hong Kong (British Crown Colony), Japan and the Phillipines. |
